The remaining episodes of the show in the making since 2018 will follow a weekly release pattern on Thursdays, with the season finale being on the 12th of March. The official synopsis elaborates that Star Trek: Starfleet Academy “follows a fresh class of cadets as they train under the watchful, demanding eyes of Starfleet’s finest… Together, they’ll face the highs and lows of academy life: forging unbreakable friendships, clashing in explosive rivalries, experiencing first loves, and stepping into their destiny as the next generation of Starfleet officers.”

Familiar Voice as the Digital Dean of the Academy

On the New York Comic Con, the Premiere date and the first trailer are not all that was announced and revealed. The popular American television host Stephen Colbert was announced to be officially joining the Star Trek universe. He will be the voice of Starfleet Academy’s Digital Dean of Students, giving daily announcements to the students and alerting them of anything that needs their immediate attention.

During a virtual appearance, he announced it, among other things also saying: “I’m sorry I couldn’t be with you in person today, but I’m a perfectionist, and I just didn’t have enough bunting for my Mugato cosplay. However, nothing could stop me from sharing this exciting news; I’m honored to announce that my beautiful voice will be joining Star Trek: Starfleet Academy as the Digital Dean of Students.”

During his short appearance he also stated: “I’m thrilled to join this universe that I’ve loved for so long, and unlike my on-camera castmates, I’m thrilled to join it without having to spend four hours in hair and makeup every day. I’ll see you when Starfleet Academy premieres…”

He concluded by saying “Live long… and do your thing!
